Great book

This book has been incredibly helpful. It's basically a cliff notes of everything emergency medicine. The chapters are laid out nicely and they are set up so if you have a specific problem, say abdominal pain, all of the information you need about the main causes of that will be laid out in the chapter on abdominal emergencies. This book has also been a great help with reviewing all of medicine before I start clinical rotations in a month. I can't recommend it enough!

I love emergency medicine and it impossible that i don't have this one. Chapters are quite well written. Flowcharts are helpful. Information is quite direct, to the point. I didnt give 5 star because i still use other EM books. didnt find the perfect one yet.

The Wedding Diaries

I really thought this was a dumb book. The plot wasn't too bad and the characters were well defined. I like romance and sex as well as anyone, but
I really got tired of it and the whole absurd idea that they had every kind of sex imaginable, except for penetration. The sex scenes took over the book and became boring. This book reads like a Harlequin Romance and is about as interesting. I bought this for my Kindle and was so disappointed in it that I removed it from the Kindle and stored it. If I could remove it permanently I would.

From princess to pauper...

Vivienne is about to marry Grady, but discovers that he has eyes for someone a female attorney he works with, so they part amicably. She then discovers that her daddy has run off with her inheritance, leaving her to fend for herself, and stuck with all the bills.

She suddenly finds herself without a home, car, credit cards, man, or prospects for a job. Real estate mogul Max accidentally offers her a job as a nanny for his two sisters, which she quickly accepts. Soon, Vivienne has wooed his entire family, including his surly teenage sister, Nicky.

Vivienne has never really been in love; her relationship with Grady was based on societal concerns. Plus, she has never really known if men have liked her for herself or her fortune. Max has been nursing a crush on Vivienne since he was 10 and she was 6; will he finally get the chance to explore his feelings for her?

Lee cleverly uses Vivienne's unused Wedding Diary for her personal revelations which aid the progression of the story.

In Texas, Max Landy shows a house he lists to his client Vivienne "Pampered Princess" Stansfield. Not long afterward, Vivienne learns that she is in deep debt and her father, who pays the bills, is missing and her fianc� dumped her. Max sees her in Bobby's Place, a popular bar, drowning her sorrows and offers her encouragement. However, she interprets his words as a job offer as a nanny to his younger sisters that he raises. A couple of days later an even more desperate Vivienne accepts.
Desperate for someone to care for his two siblings he gives her a chance. As they fight she begins to provide a positive influence on his two wards and his other adult siblings. She feels good that he seems to care about Vivienne and not the media darling princess. Soon Max and Vivienne fall in love, but her faith in Max is shattered when she learns he has kept a scrapbook centered on her since they met twenty years ago as children from different sides of the tracks.
THE WEDDING DIARIES is a fine contemporary romance starring two likable lead characters, a host of congenial secondary players (his siblings), and two disagreeable parents. The story line is fun as readers enjoy watching the "Pampered Princess" struggling yet persevering against all odds. Though key issues and problems resolve too easily, Linda Francis Lee provides a delightful tale that sub-genre readers will enjoy.

you will love this book

I got this book because I'm a reader of the author's blog, My Man's Belly. Though I'm mostly a vegetarian, I was transfixed by the range and creativity of the recipes with their unusual flavor profiles and ingredients that clearly demonstrate Pamela is a world traveler. I would have never thought of these unique combinations myself (and my palate is no slouch), and it was quite the eye-opening education in jerky since my perception of it before was 7-Eleven road trip fare. If you're a carnivore, you will love this book! Even if you're not, it's a great read with some fruit and veg jerkies that anyone with a dehydrator or a little patience would want to make.

As one of Pamela's jerky taste testers, I can tell you that her recipes do work, and the results are delicious. My friends and I tasted almost every recipe that went into this book when she was writing it. That Whiskey Pete jerky? BEST ever. Trust us. We tested that several times as the result was, ahem, inconclusive...must try more samples. Seriously, though. That's one of our favorites and there were many more. Even the vegetable ones came out great too. Buy it for your friends and family this holiday season. You won't regret it!

Just like Jesse Livermore, Richard Wyckoff has an understanding of the market that goes much deeper than even your "above average" investor. I find this book to be a well laid out account of the do's and don'ts that will put anyone on a surer path to a successful career as a day trader.

I have read my share of trading books and there are some great ones, some classic ones, and some lousy ones. This one fits right in the middle only because there are a few great ideas and it's a short book so the payoff is great. I really like Wyckoff's mixture of technical and emotional (intuitive would be a better word). It's a classic, it should be read, there are free versions on the web, and lastly it's a small investment in time.

About the Author
John Milton Gregory (1822-1898) was the second president of Kalamazoo College from 1864 until 1867. Following this, served as the first president of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, from the university's founding in 1867 until his resignation in 1880. While Gregory credited Jonathan Baldwin Turner as the central figure in the university's establishment, Gregory, during his tenure as University of Illinois's first president, helped determine the direction of the university by advocating the presence of a classically-based liberal arts curriculum in addition to the industrial and agricultural curriculum desired by the Illinois Industrial League and many state residents and lawmakers of the time.

The Seven Laws of Teaching

This book was written a century ago but for anyone who has ever taught they will recognize the principles that are still true! A great gift for a new graduate interested in teaching or someone entering the profession. I'm sorry I waited until I retired to read this little piece. I would have recommended it to my new teachers. The prose are early 20th century which made the book seem old but authoritative. Easy read that can be put into practice.

I read an out of print edition of this book on one sitting. The main thrust of the book gets at the experience of the learner's genuine engagement and interest harmonized with the active instruction of the teacher. This is of course nearly lost in public education. All persons involved in teaching should read this book. It is clear and provides effective "laws."

Concise, well written and amazingly relevant. It is fascinating how a book written so long ago can be so useful today. The principles in this book relate to students who, we discover, have not changed all that much. In fact, some of the best teaching advice of the 21st century sounds a lot like this

If you read in the beginning of the book after the table of contents it tells you to send an email to AcademiceBooksSupport@informa.com with proof of purchase in order to access the MP3 files. My email was returned within 24 hours with a link and access code to a site to download the music files for all 3 CD's. How to complain when the CD's cost $40 and the book upwards of $50 but renting the book and getting the MP3's for $14. Win-win.

This is a great text. I am using it to teach a World Music class and it has a lot of information and examples.
Many people rated this low becuase they said it did not come with the Mp3. That is not the case. At the end of the table of contents is says to email AcademiceBooksSupport@informa.com with proof of purchasing the eBook (I just forwarded my email from Amazon) and they email you back with a code. After you have that code it is a simple process and you have access to the Mp3.

About the Author

Alan D. Evans, M.S., CPA

Alan is currently a faculty member at Moore College of Art and Design and Montgomery County Community College, teaching a variety of computer science and business courses. He holds a BS in accounting from Rider University, an MS in information systems from Drexel University, and he is a certified public accountant. After a successful career in business, Alan finally realized that his true calling is education. He has been teaching at the college level since 2000. Alan enjoys attending technical conferences and meets regularly with faculty and administrators from other colleges to discuss curriculum development and new methods of engaging students.

Kendall E. Martin, Ph.D.

Kendall is a professor of Computer Science at Montgomery County Community College with teaching experience at both the undergraduate and graduate levels at a number of institutions, including Villanova University, DeSales University, Ursinus College, and Arcadia University. Kendall’s education includes a BS in electrical engineering from the University of Rochester and an MS and a PhD in engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. She has industrial experience in research and development environments (AT&T Bell Laboratories), as well as experience with several start-up technology firms. At Ursinus College, Kendall developed a successful faculty-training program for distance education instructors, and she makes conference presentations during the year.

Mary Anne Poatsy, MBA, CFP

Mary Anne is a senior faculty member at Montgomery County Community College, teaching various computer application and concepts courses in face-to-face and online environments. She

enjoys speaking at various professional conferences about innovative classroom strategies. She holds a BA in psychology and education from Mount Holyoke College and an MBA in finance from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management. Mary Anne has been in teaching since 1997, ranging from elementary and secondary education to Montgomery County Community College, Gwynedd-Mercy College, Muhlenberg College, and Bucks County Community College, as well as training in the professional environment. Before teaching, she was a vice president at Shearson Lehman Hutton in the Municipal Bond Investment Banking Department.

This book was required for my Intro to Computer Information Systems class, and I felt it does a good job covering the basics about what is important in technology today. For me, these types of subjects are better covered with hands on experience, so there were plenty of places where the text can be a bit boring, so I made sure to take plenty of notes in order to be able to pass the exams. This is a good place to start if you are looking to pursue a tech related career.

Technology In Action, Complete (6th Edition)I had trouble purchasing this book at the campus bookstore because my campus did not have it in stock. I purchased this book on BN and they sent me the wrong edition. I had to return it, and re-purchase it. Then, the day I was suppose to receive it, I get an email stating that my order was cancelled due to them not carrying it in stock! I was so PO'd! I logged into Amazon, purchased the book I needed (cheaper) and i had it in my hands THE NEXT DAY! I am so thrilled! I was already 4 days behind on my classwork due to all the screw-ups... I cant thank you enough! :)

About the actual text: I am enjoying this textbook. It is well written and comes with a CD as an extra resource. All chapters have a Chapter Summary and Key Terms and where to locate them in the text. Also, for practice, each chapter has a real-world scenario with fill in the blanks using buzzwords and vocabulary, a self-test in both multiple choice and true/false formats, a "making the transition" section, and critical thinking questions. Overall- 2 thumbs up!

A very good book to read.

This book is an excellent source for novice readers. It has answered all my questions about technology, and it can put you on the right track and provides you with a solid background about technology in general. I consider it an indispensable necessity for most novice readers. The presentation and the layout of the book is excellent and user friendly. Quite often I want to get answers for many questions. However, some readers may find it overwhelming due to the amount of information in it, but it is an excellent source lo get you educated in technology. It has given me some kind of confidence.
