► BEAUTIFUL MANDALA DESIGNS, BUT DOUBLE PRINTED PAGES & BLACK LINES A LITTLE TOO THICK ◄

Ever since I'd fallen into the popular wave of adult coloring, it took me quite some time to figure out what particular style I liked. After figuring out that I had a specific love towards mandalas, I began snatching up literally ever coloring book that I could find in which the mandala theme was dominant. However, I was just as quick, as well to discover that not all mandala coloring books were alike!
While I can't say that I love this book, I definitely like it. The only thing that I can object about (this is personal opinion, mind you), is that the book is:
⬛ Printed on both sides of the page - it would have been nice is the pages were single print, so if you're one to color with markers or pens that bleed through, or are like me and press pretty hard, you can pretty much forget about coloring the mandala on the back of that particular page.
⬛ The pages aren't perforated - the book is simply held together by spine staples. I understand that this could possibly make it easy to rip the pages out, but if you do that, the page in which it was previously connected to, then falls out as well.
⬛ The black lines are a little thick - while I definitely don't like super skinny lines that are super easy to end up outside of, these lines are very thick. Like... much thicker than necessary. So if you were to color with colored pencils in a lighter shade, such as a pastel, and you end up coloring over the black lines, the black lines then end up looking 'ashy' and grey. Slightly lighter than the rest of the mandala. Perhaps that's just me being overly anal and picky, but what can I say... I notice extreme detail like that when it comes to art.
⬛ There's literally only 30 pages - despite the mandala designs themselves being super nice, don't get me wrong about that, the fact that they're printed on the front and the back, and the book being only 30 pages makes the book super thin. I mean, I've got magazines that are thicker than this coloring book.
But overall, despite those 4 cons that I pointed out, this is only my personal opinion. Everyone's got their own personal likes and dislikes. The designs are beautiful, regardless. They're unique and quite different than your typical mandala. It's kinda hard, actually to describe exactly the style of them. They're somewhat tribal, but at the same time, rather victorian, modernistic, if you will. So, while I can't say that I'm in love with the book, I'll just have to use my scanner to scan the ones that I like so I can have them on a single print page. I'd still definitely recommend this book to other mandala lovers out there. It's a nice change to the typical.

Turns out to be my favorite! Here's why...

Friends gave me some art markers as a gift recently, and I quickly became addicted to designs like these. I've searched hundreds of similar products and have "test driven" about 15 of them now. This book turns out to be my favorite. I don't love EVERY design in the book, but I love enough of them that I'm about to order my 3rd copy. Yes, I could (and have tried to) photocopy the pages to avoid buying the book again, but the quality of the copy paper I have isn't very compatible with the Prismacolor Art Markers that I use. That doesn't mean that you can't or shouldn't make copies for yourself. I like this product so much that I don't mind spending $3.95, and I think I'm going to order a stack of them. The designs are that satisfying to me. I want to try them out in a variety of color patterns.
These designs offer such satisfying detail in a format that's NOT so small that you have to squint while viewing the page, yet neither are they simplistic, childlike, or so large that using markers results in streaks as you try to fill the space. The scale of the designs lends itself nicely to the Prismacolor art markers I use. If you like to use various shades of the same color, these designs are structured in a way that allows you to experiment wonderfully with that technique.
The quality of the paper isn't way off the charts, but it's a bright optic white and is of a much higher quality than what I've seen in far more expensive products. I'm satisfied with it! Yes, it's true that these images are printed on both sides of the page, so if you use permanent markers like I do, the ink bleeds through, rendering the back side of the page unusable. This is where you'd end up photocopying the other side of the page (if you have access to quality copy paper... if that matters) or buying more copies of the book.
For $3.95 I can't beat this book. I've spend HOURS absorbed in the designs. I posted about 10 of them into the "viewer's pages" section above... hopefully they're visible.

Colouring for adults

There's something for everyone in this colouring book. The designs are intricate enough to keep adults satisfied but not too difficult for older children. I like colouring with markers, so I photocopied the pages - the ink will bleed through to the back of the page otherwise and the mandalas are printed back to back.
